What could this mysterious Porsche Panamera test car be?

It hasn’t even been a year since Porsche updated its Panamera model, so what could these recently spotted prototypes mean? Is another design refresh coming, or is it a brand new special edition?

The test vehicle sports numerous overlays throughout its body, hinting that the bumpers, the radiator grille, the lights and the rear diffuser could all be new. The last year’s facelift did very little with the exterior of the model (watch the video for a reminder), so maybe Porsche decided to spruce things up a bit more.

Note also a rather unusual exhaust pipe arrangement: there are two tailpipes at the sides instead of the usual quad tips. Could a new base-spec engine be underway for the Panamera?

Another theory yet claims that the company may already have started working on the third generation. In a recent statement, Porsche CEO Oliver Blum said that the launch of the Taycan EV would hardly affect the sales of the Panamera, hence, a new generation would be coming in three years’ time or so. He stressed that this information was not final.

The sports car received chassis improvements and a revised engine lineup last year.
