Mercedes-Benz S-Class PHEV ships in Europe

When Mercedes introduced its new S-Class, it mentioned a rechargeable S 580 e version, but it has not available for ordering in Europe until yesterday.

Prices start from €123,736. The mild-hybrid S 580 4Matic spec that came out a while ago had a four-liter V8 at its core, rated at 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW). In contrast, the PHEV commands a three-liter six-pot rated at 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) and a single electric motor built into the nine-speed automatic transmission. The resulting total output makes 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

When going all-electric, the top speed will be capped at 140 km/h (87 mph), but you will be able to get pretty far with 113 km (70 miles) of range on a single charge. Switch to hybrid, and the car will go 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.2 seconds and max out at 250 km/h (155 mph). Replenishing 100% of the charge can be done in 30 minutes.
