Peugeot 208 EV & 2008 EV to get an 8% range upgrade soon

Peugeot has announced an update coming to the all-electric variants of the 208 and 2008 models. Both the hatchback and the crossover SUV get to keep their powertrain hardware, but new tires extend the driving range by at least 8 percent.

It remains to be announced when these new, low-resistance tires become available. They will come in diameters of 16 inches (e-208) and 17 inches (e-2008).

Aside from this, the 2022MY hatchback and CUV benefit from a new heat pump with a humidity sensor located in the upper part of the windshield. The sensor helps the pump optimize its power consumption during ventilation or heating. The savings are especially noticeable at lower outside temperatures.

Both models also get a deduction gear with a revised ratio that saves more power when cruising on the highway.

As a result, the WLTP-rated driving range for the e-208 now amounts to 362 km (+22), while the e-2008 gets 345 km (+25). The manufacturer claims that the actual range is even better: while driving in an urban environment at a near-zero temperature, the range gain can exceed 40 km.

Both cars rely on a single electric motor rated at 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque to propel them forward. The traction battery holds up to 50 kWh of power. The latest 2019 Peugeot e-208 can sprint 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
