Video: Hennessey testing its Venom hypercar in F5 mode

The long-anticipated Hennessey Venom F5 is still in its development and testing phase, despite the reveal having taken place more than a year ago. Right now, the Texas-based company is testing the hypercar at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida, making sure it stays stable at extreme speeds.

According to Hennessey, the threshold of 402 km/h (250 miles per hour) has already been passed successfully. What’s even more interesting, however, is that the car has finally unlocked its highest performance mode, the F5. In this mode, the powertrain pumps out 1,841 metric horsepower (1,816 hp / 1,354 kW) and 1,617 Nm (1,193 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. Hennessey Performance reminds us that the top speed remains yet to be measured, and could in theory come close to 500 km/h (310 miles per hour).
