Porsche Design celebrates 50th anniversary with 911 Targa cars and wristwatches

To celebrate Porsche Design turning fifty years old, the in-house accessory vendor of the German automaker will be producing a limited series of cars called the Edition 50 Years Porsche Design.

A total of 750 units will be made based on the current-gen 911 chassis. Like the first Porsche Design wristwatch to go on sale, every car will be finished in black with Satin Platinum details. Also on the list are special emblems, commemorative plaques, original wheels, interior embroidery, and the signatures of all Porsche Design founders on the center console.

Things stay stock under the hood, which in this case implies a flat-six engine rated at 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW). Importantly, however, customers may opt for a manual gearbox instead of PDK. The car costs $197,200 and comes with a free wristwatch called “1–911 50 Years of Porsche Design”. In addition to this watch, buyers are invited to pay $7,700 for a separate timepiece designed to resemble the original Porsche Design product down to the last cog.
