McMurtry Speirling coming back to Goodwood for another record

UK-based sports car maker McMurtry Automotive unveiled its all-electric Speirling racer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year, and will now be visiting it again to try and set a new record at the annual hill climb race.
The McMurtry Speirling is a single-seat racecar that its creator claims is faster than the Bugatti Chiron itself. It zaps from standstill to 97 km/h (60 mph) in under one and a half seconds.
One of its killer features comes in the shape of active aerodynamic fans producing more downforce than the curb weight of the Speirling itself (around 2 metric tons, or 4,400 lbs).
“Our aim is to win the event and we feel that the record is within reach if everything aligns for us.” – McMurtry Managing Director Thomas Yates said in an interview with Autocar. – “Of course, this is motorsport and you can never take anything for granted but we are turning up with a highly competitive package.”
