Defender specialist suddenly switches to restoring Jaguar E-Types

ECD Automotive Design has made a name for itself restoring and modding classic Land Rover Defenders, but the tuner’s latest project sees it working with the Jaguar E-Type for the first time on record.

Pre-orders are already running, and the company promises limitless customization opportunities at every stage of the project. To highlight just one thing, you can go with restoring the E-Type’s stock inline-six or V12 as long as you are fine with their limitations, or you can opt for a nice and modern eight-cylinder mill, like the 456-PS (450-hp / 336-kW) LT1 by General Motors. Furthermore, there is nothing preventing you from choosing an all-electric Tesla powertrain with the same 456 PS at the output end: in fact, the first E-Type restomod set to roll out of the ECD garage sometime in 2023 is going to be all-electric.

3D renderings are all you have to judge the looks of the car right now, but this is probably not important, because ECD promises ‘completely bespoke’ exterior and cabin styling. Prices begin at $300,000, and the tuner hopes to be able to make 10-12 such Jaguars annually starting next year.
