Video: Is the Mercedes-AMG One aiming for a North Loop record?

Judging by this awesome video from the Nürburgring, the AMG division is set on reclaiming the leadership on the dreaded racetrack. The footage focuses on the One hypercar making a few loops on the ‘Ring while looking and sounding majestic.

The car is seen approaching the gate leading to the track. The driver pushes some buttons, and fender vents extend along with a rear wing. The car then proceeds to hit the track and accelerate to racing speeds, ripping the surroundings with the whine of a barely road-legal 1.6-liter V6.

The current world record for the fastest car on the North Loop belongs to the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and makes 6 minutes 43 seconds. Despite technically qualifying for the title, that car received extensive modifications from Manthey Racing and is not universally recognized as a fair winner.
