Volkswagen ID.4 debuts in a $39k entry spec

The new entry-level Volkswagen ID.4 will go on sale in the USA this fall priced from $38,790. All other specs get a mid-life update in the meantime.

The model year 2023 brings about mild stylistic changes, such as gloss black trim on the front bumper and a larger 12-inch infotainment display instead of the old 10-inch one.

Changes were made in the head-on collision prevention system, which should now be aware of cyclists. Additionally, all ID.4 versions now benefit from extended parking assist features.

The new base spec comes equipped with a 62-kWh traction battery rated for 335 km (208 miles) of driving range – 108 km (67 miles) less range than the other specs offer. It still comes with LED headlights and 19-inch wheels. The interior is trimmed with fabric and imitation leather, there is a two-zone climate control, the seats are heated, and the audio system comprises six speakers.
