Watch the BMW i7 pant and crawl clumsily down the ‘Ring

The BMW i7 has already been introduced and is underway to the market this fall. In the meantime, though, the manufacturer seems to be busy putting some last-minute polish on it, as this Nürburgring spy video suggests.

The racetrack had at least two test SUVs running on it at the same time, one fully electric and the other one gas-powered. The i7 was by far the clumsiest of the two, constantly slowing down before sharp corners in order to dump the inertia built up in its heavy battery pack.

Having said that, none of us expect the i7 to be the first choice of racing enthusiasts. On the highway where it belongs, the SUV is advertised as having 483 kilometers (300 miles) of range according to the strict EPA measurement standard.

Furthermore, plugging it into a powerful enough charging station replenishes a large portion of that range within mere ten minutes. These are both rather impressive figures for an EV powered by dual electric motors rated at 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW) together.
