BMW 3.0 CSL gets ready for its November premiere

The new BMW 3.0 CSL will pay homage to its iconic namesake from half a century ago when it debuts in November, BMWBlog reports quoting an insider within the Munich company.

The new CSL will allegedly share the technical basis with the M4 CSL, but not without original design touches. Among other things, it will get different fenders, radiator grille, hood, front bumper and rear diffuser. The body will make use of a couple of active aerodynamic parts, including a rear wing and a roof spoiler.

Power will come from a turbo six-cylinder that propels the M4 CSL with 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. The BMW 3.0 CSL will allegedly get a slightly boosted version of it, but the reports disagree on the amount of the boost. Some say it will get an additional 10 horsepower, while others claim it will be +50 hp over the rating mentioned above.

In any case, the car is expected to drive its rear wheels through a classic six-speed manual transmission. This should enable it to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds.

Only 50 units will be made, the insider says.
