Tesla earns $1.62M on Cybertruck before sales start

The Tesla Cybertruck debuted in 2019 and was scheduled for a market launch in 2021, but it is late 2022 now and the pickup has yet to reach production. Still, despite all the difficulties, most Tesla fans continue to see it as a desirable vehicle. The company says it holds a whopping $1,620,000 USD worth of preorders, Electrek reports.

Tesla was allegedly able to amass pre-orders worth a total of $1,000,000 in May 2021 and proceeded to raise it to approximately $1,300,000 by November. Everyone can pre-order the Cybertruck against a deposit of just $100. It may be hard to believe, but Tesla claims it has already attracted $1,620,000 in advance payments.

If all these payments were to turn into actual orders, Elon Musk would be poised to earn a gross total of $123,000,000,000 USD. Of course, it remains open just how many people will follow through with the deal, given that the production is now set to start in mid-2023 ‘if all goes well.’
