Video: Ferrari-powered Subaru rally car completes its first test drive

Not long ago, we wrote about a racing driver, Sam Albert, who picked a Ferrari F136 IB eight-cylinder engine to put under the hood of his Subaru WRX for this year’s rally season in the USA. Back then, the car was still undergoing dyno tests and tuning, but it has now completed its first track run.
The swap wasn’t an easy one, as the rev-happy and temperamental engine started things off by breaking the driveshaft. It ultimately started up without the headers, but Albert kept working on it until it was ready for a test run on the DirtFish Rally School track.
As you can see for yourself in the video, the attempt was a success. Not only that, but hearing a Ferrari engine rev up inside a Subaru on a gravel track is truly a unique experience. Give it a shot!
Albert will participate in his first race in this car on April 22, when the Olympus Rally takes place in Washington.
