Elon Musk to double the Vegas Loop length to connect The Strip with remote regions

The Boring Company has plans to build as many tunnels as it already has under Las Vegas, increasing their total length to 105 kilometers (65 miles), Tech Crunch reports.

The company submitted its proposed expansion map to the city authorities. The yellow shade highlights the current lines, the green lines are those approved for construction, and the red ones are those being proposed by Elon Musk.

Should the plan be approved, the tunnels will reach as far as the certain residential areas of Las Vegas. In the central hub, the stations will be clustered so densely as to be within a few quarters from each other. The proposed total number of stations is 69.

Like the original project, the expansion will be funded by The Boring Company itself. Each station is evaluated between U.S. $1.5M and $20M depending on its associated tunnel length and finishing requirements.

The current Vegas Loop only has five stations serving a roughly 2-mile (3.22-kilometer) underground line. 70 Tesla cars cruise up and down the line. Originally conceived as a means of fighting traffic jams on traditional roads, the system itself had jams during early development that made many observers skeptical of its future.
