Theon Design builds its first Porsche 964 restomod for Italy

Theon Design, a studio specializing in exclusive Porsche restorations, seems to want to please all of its customers from all over the world without leaving anyone out. Having delivered a 911 (964) restomod to a client in Chili four months ago, it then built another one for someone in Belgium, and now shipped one to Italy as well.

Like the tuner’s previous works, this one is easy to recognize as a 964, because, unlike some other shops, Theon keeps its projects clean and faithful to the design of the original car. Using an all-carbon body makes the car weigh as little as 1,152 kilos (2,539 pounds), and the engineering team even goes as far as to move the AC compressor units from the rear end to the front to achieve perfect per-axle load distribution.

The air-cooled flat-six mill with four liters of displacement stays largely stock. Unlike some other projects by the same company, which use superchargers to squeeze more out of these engines, this one only features modest driver-oriented modifications, like a dual-mass flywheel and a throttle-by-wire pedal set. The mods are aimed at making the elderly 964 enjoyable both on the track and on the street.

It is also worth pointing out the transmission, which uses the coveted Porsche 993 RS gearbox to send 406 PS (400 hp / 298 kW) and 427 Nm (315 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels.

The price was not specified, but similar projects tend to start around the half-million-euro mark.
