Volkswagen bringing a stretched ID.Buzz to the International VW Bus Day

Volkswagen has established a new holiday in the United States: the International Volkswagen Bus Day will be celebrated in California on June 2, 2023 for the first time in history. To make the occasion special, the company will be bringing a three-row ID.Buzz microbus to it.

The festival primarily targets all owners and fans of VW buses, including the legendary T2. The ID.Buzz shown in the attached video is believed to be its modern-day successor – a closer look will reveal numerous design similarities between the two.

All technical details remain to be revealed. Earlier reports said the stretched ID.Buzz could be just 250 mm (10 inches) longer than standard with optional individual seats in the middle row. Rumors also circulated that the middle seats and the rear bench would be removable. Some said that the large electric MPV may later get a campervan version, like some other Volkswagen buses did in the past. At any rate, none of these reports have been confirmed yet.

The VW T2 was popular in the USA as well, especially among hippies. Perhaps this is why Volkswagen is now trying to make North America the primary market for the long-wheelbase EV. The standard ID.Buzz is already being sold in Europe with a short wheelbase, two seat rows and a choice between MPV and LCV variants.
