Audi electrifies the legendary Sport Quattro

Audi has posted a short teaser vid announcing a couple of unusual concept cars. The footage is mainly focused on a new spec of the RS e-tron GT called Ice Race, but also depicts the famous Sport Quattro racer in the same design.

The details are absent, but the reveal is scheduled on Sunday, May 28. Both vehicles wear liveries of grey, white and purple and are used in the video to bring skiers to the mountain slopes. The classic hatchback has the lettering ‘e-tron’ on its c-pillar, a clear hint that it, too, is electrified.

The company shows the RS e-tron GT Ice Race with the caption saying that the car is not street-legal and not for sale. As such, it is probably a one-off.

If we had to guess, we would say both novelties are meant to celebrate Audi Sport turning 40 this year. The division opened on October 10, 1983 under the name ‘quattro GmbH’.
