Car Tuning

Here’s a BMW 1-Series running on Lancer Evolution engine

The fans of the Bavarian car brand tend to regard the 1-Series (E81) as being below entry-level, but we keep hearing news about this particular model getting tuned to new heights, time and again. Case in point: the hatchback in the video, which could have upwards of 1,000 horsepower.

The project is only briefly shown in a short vid by Turbo Town, but that’s because the tuning is in its earlier stages and the details are scarce. What we know is that the car ditched its engine in favor of a Mitsubishi 4G63T mill that powered the legendary Lancer Evo IX back in its time. Massive alloy cylinders and heavy-duty pistons enabled tuners to squeeze 1,000 hp (750 kW) out of it and occasionally even more. Judging by the ease with which the example in the video shreds its tires drifting, it is also far from stock.

On the exterior side of things, the owner went for a black-out look with matching wheels, a front spoiler, an aftermarket hood, new fenders and a dark radiator grille. The suspension is visibly lowered, too.
