Designer Sasha Selipanov of Bugatti, Lamborghini and Koenigsegg fame has nearly finished working on his very own hypercar, the Nilu. It’s slated for a modest production run in both track-only and street-legal variants.
In the meantime, Nilu27 has posted a short video showcasing the workings of the vehicle’s 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V12 capable of revving all the way up to 11,000 RPM. Built by Hartley Engines in New Zealand, it was originally estimated at 1,085 PS (1,070 hp / 798 kW), but Selipanov says the actual measurements made recently suggest even bigger numbers.
Among other things, the intricate block uses a special exhaust system layout known as the Hot V, which put the exhaust headers in between of the cylinder heads for maximum efficiency.
Aside from this, the Nilu is being advertised as a highly “analog” hypercar featuring a seven-speed manual transmission with no option to go automatic. It’s also strictly rear-wheel drive, so not the faint-hearted. The company says it will first make 15 pure racers available, then proceed to build 54 road-going examples.
All prices remain secret, but the first deliveries are planned for later this year.
