Forza Horizon 5 gets a Chinese car expansion complete with a family MPV

Playground Games, the developer of the critically acclaimed racing sim Forza Horizon 5, will be adding four China-made cars into the game to celebrate the Lunar New Year coming on February 1, as well as the game coming to the market in China.

The main highlight of the new content pack is the Nio EP9, once the fastest electric car on the North Loop with 1,360 PS (1,341 hp / 1,000 kW) driving the wheels. There are a couple of MG vehicles as well, including the XPower SV-R coupe developed back in the era when MG was still a British company. This one packs a V8 rated at 390 PS (385 hp / 287 kW) and needs around five seconds to get to 100 km/h (62 mph).

The 2015 MG3 hatchback also makes an appearance. The road-legal MG3 model had a conceptual spin-off called Clubsport, which features reviused suspension and a 1.5-liter turbo engine rated above 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW), about twice the power of the original five-door model.

The most off-beat addition comes in the guise of the Wuling Hongguang S, a family minivan that was once the most popular vehicle in China.

It remains to be seen whether players outside of China will ever receive these cars as a DLC. Playground Games also does not specify when the cars will become available to drive, other than that it will happen ‘in February’.
