Nissan IMk Concept might become a production Kei car

Nissan will be bringing a new hatchback prototype, called the IMk Concept, to the Tokyo Motor Show opening in late October. The vehicle may or may not hit the market later as an all-electric Kei car (even though the prototype itself is ICE-powered).

Perhaps more importantly for us non-Japanese residents, the IMk Concept is a design study that introduces Nissan’s new global design philosophy, called the Timeless Japanese Futurism.

No technical specifications exist to date, but the company says that, if the car goes into production, it will take advantage of an all-new architecture designed specifically for fully electric vehicles.

The cabin sports a fashionable combination of light-hued fabric and natural wood. There is no instrument panel or touchscreen to be seen anywhere; instead, the model offers two HUD displays without visible bezels. Sitting at the windshield pillar bases are LED displays that act as side view mirrors.

As far as the tech is concerned, the Nissan IMk Concept packs the same autopilot system as the recently introduced Nissan Skyline, as well as a feature you can use to recall your car from a parking area to your location.
