Nissan Ariya EV Concept debuts at the Tokyo show

Nissan has taken the wraps off its latest conceptual electric SUV, the Ariya. This is the first vehicle to take advantage of the new CMF-EV platform.

The Japanese carmaker claims the SUV has 300 miles (483 kilometers) of EPA-rated range and sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in five seconds flat. The horsepower and torque remain to be announced, but we expect these to be close to those of the Nissan Leaf e+ (217 hp / 162 kW, 340 Nm / 251 lb-ft, 62 kWh).

The newcomer is comparable with the latest X-Trail in terms of dimensions and can accommodate up to five passengers. It sports a mesh grille with boomerang-shaped LED headlights built into it and has glossy-black finish on the wheel arches, bumper details, sills, and pillars.

Overall, the concept looks bold, but not too experimental or futuristic. This should mean that, when the production car hits the showrooms in 2020 or 2021, it will likely look pretty much the same.
