The Japanese car maker Nissan has held a presentation of their self-driving battery-powered taxi project named Easy Ride, developed in conjunction with the local IT company DeNA. The vehicle, which makes use of the Nissan Leaf platform, will go through a test series of passenger trips in March 2018.
Customers may book a ride in the Easy Ride system using a mobile application. You may choose a departure point, a destination, and pay for the ride straight from your phone. Should you feel like sightseeing, the app will suggest a few interesting routes to take in your current area. Finally, the self-driving system is going to monitor passenger safety at all times.
Interestingly, Nissan had earlier launched a car sharing service in Yokohama, Japan. Clients are offered a redesigned version of Renault Twizy, among other options.
