The Nissan 1400 is a lesser known name in the world outside of the South African Republic, where it had been around for nearly four decades and was generally praised despite its ‘affordable’ status. Now, Mad Dog Racing spent 700 hours turning one such pickup into a viable racer.
The tuner began by stripping the exterior and cabin of anything not deemed necessary for the track. A one-liter Honda motorbike engine capable of revving up to 12,000 RPM slotted in under the hood. We were not told how much horsepower it makes, but the important thing to note is that the truck itself weighs just 660 kg (1,455 lbs) and doesn’t need much to get it flying.
