Have you noticed how new cars often have their distinctly different scents in the same showroom? More often than you’d think, a dedicated professional is responsible for this aesthetic detail. Meet Ryunosuke Ino, the Smellmaster of Nissan.
Officially employed as a cabin air quality expert and a person responsible for Nissan’s global standard of olfactory experience, Ino starts his work preparation every evening by avoiding any food that may have strong odor.
Once inside a car, he smells every small detail making sure the sensation is not unpleasant. Upon locating a jarring scent, he narrows down its cause until the culprit is found and reports it to the management. The part is then either deodorized or replaced entirely.
