Nissan expects to go full-on electric in Europe by 2030

Nissan hopes to eliminate its non-electrified vehicle lineup on the Old Continent by the beginning of the next decade, said company CEO Makoto Uchida as quoted by Nikkei.

Until the end of the 2020s, Nissan plans to unveil 19 new BEVs and 8 hybrids. The company also hopes to be able to transition to cobalt-free power cells within five years, which would cut battery production costs by 65%.

The corresponding plans were announced by Nissan during the presentation of its 20–23 Concept shown in the gallery and video below. The design study was developed by a team of young designers from the company’s London studio, which turned 20 the other day.

The automaker is now planning on investing another €40,000,000 into this design studio and the adjacent Nissan Europe Technology Centre. The Japanese company holds high hopes for these branch offices, as they will be directly responsible for designing electrified Nissans for all of Europe.
