Nissan unveils two camper vans at Madrid motor show

The Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has unveiled two touring camper vans at the recently concluded biennial International Auto Show in Madrid, Spain. One of these is a full-electric vehicle.

One of these is based on the Nissan NV200 platform, whereas another utilizes the base of the Nissan NV300. Both are categorized under light campers and come modestly equipped with a small kitchen sink, a tiny fridge, a gas stovetop, a wardrobe and seats that unfold into beds. For those who would like to walk without bending down, both models come with a roof that can be raised whenever the car is not moving. This also creates an additional sleeping place near the ceiling.

Equipped with a 109 hp / 81 kW strong engine and a 40 kWh traction battery, the all-electric Nissan e-NV200 motorhome only offers a meager 280 km (170 mi) of driving range. It charges up to 80% of its battery within 40 minutes using a dedicated high-voltage charging station.

Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai have also been releasing similar vehicles. Hyundai has recently launched sales of a spacious motorhome based on the latest-generation Grand Starex minivan. The car came supplied with pretty much everything a person needs for comfortable living, including a shower cabin, a toilet, a fridge, a kitchen stove, a table, storage boxes, and a movie projector.
