Nissan wants 40% of its cars sold in the USA to be electric by 2030

Nissan intends to increase the share of all-electric cars in its North American sales dramatically within this decade. Specifically, the company expects 40% of its cars sold in 2030 to be all-electric and even more, hybrid.

By 2050, the manufacturer intends to be completely carbon-neutral on all key markets. The implementation of the strategy will begin with the introduction of the Ariya, a battery SUV, in 2022. An all-new Leaf should also go on sale next year.

According to the official announcement, the Ariya will offer a choice between 2WD and 4WD and have up to 300 miles (483 kilometers) of driving range. Prices will begin from $40,000 in the USA. Other electric vehicles will reach the market shortly after the launch, including a full-size SUV larger than the Ariya.
