The name of Nissan has been making many headlines recently, mostly thanks to its new land vehicle prototypes, but the latest project takes the leap towards the Moon.
The rover debuted at the Nissan Futures event and was introduced as a co-development with JAXA. According to its creators, a good Moon lander has to be capable of navigating open ground, rocky terrains and hills and be extremely power-efficient. The engineering team gave it the same engine management system as the one found in the Nissan Leaf and the e-4ORCE AWD of the Ariya SUV.
While the project may or may not have prospects in space, Nissan is positive that some of the technologies contained within it will be reusable in earthly production cars.
