The fourth generation of the Elgrand starts from just under 6.9 million JPY, which translates into $42,500. Autech and VIP trims are also available starting from 8.25 and 8.7 million JPY, respectively.
The refreshed minivan sports a bezel-free mesh grille at the front, slimmed-down headlights, and a trapezoid air intake in the middle of the front bumper. It also carries a new roof spoiler in the back and has LED connecting strips between its headlights and taillights.
The interior has been seriously overhauled and now looks in line with Nissan’s current design language. There’s a two-spoke steering wheel complete with physical buttons, a 14.3-inch digital dash display and a same-sized infotainment screen next to it. The equipment list mentions a 22-speaker audio system, extra-comfy seats with footrests in the middle row, a couple of roof hatches and a host of electronic assist features from the company’s ProPilot 2.0 package.
On its domestic market of Japan, the new Nissan Elgrand is offered exclusively as an all-wheel-drive hybrid. As such, it uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in tandem with two electric motors. The engine makes 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW) and 228 Nm (168 lb-ft) of torque, the front e-motor adds 205 PS (202 hp / 151 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft), and the rear e-motor contributes 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) along with 195 Nm (144 lb-ft). Drivers get six drivetrain presets to toy with.
