The next-gen Nissan Z has already been completely revealed in terms of exterior, cabin and tech, although it has yet to arrive at the dealerships. Puzzlingly enough, a couple of Z prototypes have recently been spotted testing in Arizona with their front ends covered. Are we in for some last-minute changes, or is there another explanation?
The question is actually quite difficult to answer. The only bit of evidence we have is this short spy video showing two Z test cars complete with license plates, camouflage at the front, and black tape covering the brand logo on the nose and Z letters on the side pillars.
Watching the video in slow motion reveals yet another mysterious detail: a redesigned lower apron with something sticking out of it slightly. This, and the front wheels lack the standard red brake calipers. What could it mean?
If we had to venture a guess, we’d remember that Nissan showed us a design study named the Fairlady Z Customized Proto earlier this year (the orange sports car in our photo gallery here). It was positioned as a pure show concept with no production prospects, but perhaps the company changed its mind and now intends to release a simple exterior package for the standard Z that will mostly change its front end styling.
What do you think?
