Nissan has shared a single photo previewing yet another special edition of its Frontier pickup. It stands in the foreground and is only partially visible. Standing in the background is a D21 Hardbody pickup that came out in the 1980s and is still considered iconic by some fans.
If we had to guess, we would say that the truck will look similar if not the same as the Nissan Frontier Hardbody Concept unveiled at the 2022 Chicago Motor Show (browse through the rest of the gallery and watch the video to take a better look at that one).
Aside from a brushed-up exterior, the show vehicle from the last year had a 75-mm (3-inch) increase in ground clearance, retro-themed wheels looking just like in today’s teaser, and a roll bar above the bed with a spare wheel and auxiliary lights attached to it. In all likelihood, the production version of the truck will receive some if not most of these components.
We will learn more during the premiere scheduled on September 14, 2023. Chances are good that the Frontier Hardbody will inherit the concept’s 3.8-liter V6 rated at 314 PS (310 hp / 231 kW) and 381 Nm (285 lb-ft) of torque.
