Nissan has facelifted its Frontier pickup for the United States. The showrooms will take the first deliveries before the end of August.
Starting on the outside, there is a revised radiator grille and a new bumper with a larger centerpiece and fresh trim bits. Buyers can now opt for a vivid orange exterior and new 17-inch wheel designs. The Pro-X and Pro-4X trims get a redesigned tailgate as well.
Inside, the biggest novelty comes in the form of a central display bolstered from 9 to 12.3 inches of diagonal size (in all trims except standard). The infotainment system now supports wireless Android Auto connectivity. The surround camera system now works at max. 20 km/h (12 mph), making it easier to maneuver around the most difficult obstacles.
The stretched Crew Cab version with its 1.8-meter (6-ft.) long bed is now obtainable in wider variety of trims. The nominal towing capacity went up from 3 to 3.24 metric tons (from roughly 6,600 to 7,150 lbs), but the company didn’t explain how it achieved it or whether there are any limitations.
Things stayed stock under the hood, where a 3.8-liter V6 delivers 310 PS (306 hp / 228 kW) to the wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
