Tuned Nissan GT-R makes 1,100 HP, almost hits 380 km/h

They don’t call the Nissan GT-R the ‘hypercar slayer’ for nothing, you know. Even in its bone-stock state, the sporty coupe is capable of humiliating opponents whose engine specs look much more impressive on paper. Sophisticated aerodynamics and powerful on-board tech play a major role in this, of course.

But what is the Japanese supercar capable of when tuned to the extreme? This is precisely what the owner of this 2009 Nissan GT-R wanted to find out. Long story short, he managed to boost his ride to a whopping 1,100 horsepower (820 kilowatts) along with 1,152 Nm (850 pound-feet) of maximum torque. Note that he did all the measurements on the wheel, rather than the crank, which could mean that the nominal engine output is around 20% more than that. Crazy!

He went on to test the modded vehicle on an airfield runway, where it hit 378 km/h (235 mph). And, judging by the video, he wasn’t too eager to go pedal-to-the-metal until at least the second half of the distance. This just might mean that, given proper timing, his Nissan could happily exceed 400 km/h (250 mph)…
