1,100-bhp Nissan GT-R hits 345 km/h on a mile-long strip

This video, featuring a power-tuned Nissan GT-R doing a test run, was filmed at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida this spring. The car blazed past the 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) long track and hit the finish line going at 345 km/h (215 mph).

For drag race purists, the run was attempted at 10:00 AM, the weather was sunny and completely calm, and the air temperature rose to +23 ºC (+73 ºF).

The car did a challenging standing run, which leaves us wondering how much better it would have performed with a proper run-up. Probably quite a bit better, given that this particular example was tuned to deliver 1,100 horsepower (820 kilowatts) and 1,152 Nm (850 pound-feet) of torque measured at the wheels. In terms of sheer performance, this Godzilla from 2009 actually surpasses some of the hypercars of today.
