No generation of the iconic Nissan GT-R has ever been sluggish at the drag strip – the older R33 and R34 are just as competent as the latest R35. However, a few days ago a tuner from Sydney, Australia took an elderly R32 past all the sane limits.
Maatouks Racing does not go into detail regarding specific horsepower figures, preferring to show real results rather than theoretic ones. The one thing that’s immediately apparent as soon as you see the modded ride is that it is a pure track tool and not road-legal by any definition.
The background of the project is actually a tinge sad. Apparently, Sam “Metro” Youssef dreamt of creating the world’s fastest AWD Nissan GT-R, but a road accident took his life before he could see it completed. His team took over and after many tries, finally set the record – and a handful of other records at the same time.
The first video shows the Nissan GT-R (R32) zap through the quarter-mile strip in 6 seconds 472 milliseconds, hitting airplane-like 354 km/h (220 mph) at the finish line. The second video delves into the project details.
