Back in 2019, South Africa-based team Scribante Racing unveiled The Sheriff, a custom ride built with a Nissan R35 GT-R at the core. Since winning the Simola Hillclimb in Knisna a year ago (see video), it has received a handful of improvements.
The one-off vehicle boasts a chrome-molybdenum chassis compliant with the FIA requirements, as well as a carbon-fiber body. The chassis had originally been produced for a dragster, so Scribante had to tweak it a bit further for the project.
The 3.8-liter VR38DETT V6 has also received a plethora of upgrades, ending up with 1,600 hp (1,193 kW) and 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb-ft) of torque. The numbers look impressive as is, but even more so considering the car’s dry weight of just 1,300 kilos (2,866 lbs).
The rear end is dominated by a humongous three-tier DAS rear wing and Scribante Porsche rear diffuser, while the front end flaunts an equally ginormous splitter and a Porsche 911 GT3 rear wing specifically modded for hill climbing. As a result, the wheels are hit with 550 kilos (1,212 lbs) of downforce each at 280 km/h (174 mph). Inside, the lone Racetech 119 Series bucket seat is the only noteworthy bit of equipment.
With the 2020 Simola Hillclimb canceled due to the pandemic, Scribante Racing is now getting ready for a new season. Its plans include competing in the FIA Hill Climb Masters series in Portugal in October, as well as the World Time Attack Challenge in Australia next year.
