Nissan unveils a concept car that you drive lying prone on your stomach

David Woodhouse, VP Nissan Design America, and designer Jaebum “JB” Choi have unveiled a rather bizarre design study called the Nissan GT-R (X) 2050. As one may guess, it envisions a very distant future of the car brand.

Spanning only ten feet (3 meters) long and two feet (62 cm) tall, the prototype seems partially inspired by the V-Motion front fascia and rounded brake lights. Other than that, it looks little like a conventional car and more like an exoskeleton.

Why is that? Take a look at the interior layout. The driver is supposed to get inside the vehicle and lay on their stomach, arms and legs spread out towards all four wheels. The head rests on the front axle, and piloting it requires a special racing overalls with a helmet to establish a neural link between the driver’s brain and the steering system. How’s that for a concept?
