Nissan Motor Company has filmed a video detailing the restoration program it announced for Skyline GT-R cars back in December.
The NISMO division is accepting overhaul orders for three generations: R32 (1989-1993), R33 (1993-1998), and R34 (1998-2001). Original blueprints are used to manufacture replacement parts.
Cars are being torn down to the last screw, bodies sanded, primed and painted anew, and parts examined closely and repaired as needed. All replacement parts are assigned unique numbers. The overhaul includes the interior and the suspension as well as the engine, and the company even tests the result on a dyno stand and a proving ground to ensure proper performance.
Another paid option comes in the form of in-house tuning. The R32-gen 2.6-liter engine (RB26) can receive a boost to 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW).
NISMO does not reveal any pricing details, emphasizing that all prices are individual and vary on a car-to-car basis. Having said that, a representative of the division once let it slip to the media that a restoration could take 45 million Yen, which roughly translates into $415,000 USD.
