The Skyline GT-R on sale in the UK is the last of the Nismo 400R batch limited to 40 units and the final GT-R V-Spec produced in this shade of blue. High rarity and top condition prompted the seller to ask £1.6 million for it.
The Nismo 400R emerged in late 1990s with a sports-capable engine under the hood (see video). Called the RB‑X GT2, the mill was designed by Reinik specifically for endurance racing. It produced up to 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) in its track-only version and 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) in the road-legal version, hence the number ‘400’ in the name.
Further upgrades included special exhaust system, clutch, brakes, and body kit. The seller claims that only 40 GT‑R Nismo 400R was built back in the time, out of which only 19 survive to this day.
With 61,000 km (37,900 miles) under its belt, this example is perhaps one of the best preserved around. It made multiple headlines in the past and was exhibited at the Nissan booth during the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Should the deal succeed, it will make the car the history’s most expensive Skyline GT-R. A year and a half ago, someone bought an R34 M-Spec Nur coupe for more than $313,000. In last July, another car with the same spec and only 10 km (6 miles) on the odo fetched 60.5 million Yen in Japan.
