We are probably all guilty of getting unrealistic ideas after reading about barn-found exotic cars that their finders were miraculously able to start up and drive after brushing off the dust and changing fluids. The reality is too often too different, yet the owner of this R32-gen Nissan GT-R hopes to get it up and running in a couple of weeks.
Brian Jannusch bought the rare Godzilla from a paint shop where it had idled for years, waiting for a full repaint. This never happened, and the car ended up in an even more dilapidated state than when it was taken in. There are visible damaged areas outside, inside and in the engine bay, although the latter has fortunately suffered the least.
Jannusch hopes to be able to have the sports car up and running in time for the R’s Day, an annual gathering of GT-R enthusiasts scheduled on April 30, 2022. He has already ordered priority fabrication of the needed replacement parts, and relies on his connections in the GT-R world to source the remaining components before the timer runs out.
As a side note, a properly restored R32 GT-R can fetch an amount well into the five-digit territory nowadays. The main question is whether this project ends up being more expensive than that.
