Video: 75-year-old man lives his dream by getting his 1,200-HP Nissan GT-R to 218 mph

A video has cropped up on YouTube starring Barry, a 75-year-old resident of the United States driving an old Honda Civic and barely getting in and out of the car using his cane. Now, Barry may not look like it, but he also has a tuned Nissan GT-R that he had always hoped to take to the max on a runway somewhere.

His dream dates back to more than half a century ago, when he first was a Porsche 911 on the road and realized he wanted to experience that sensation of speed. The obsession did not fade with age – on the contrary, the man eventually bought a modified 2012 Nissan GT-R and continued working on it. After numerous modifications, the engine started pumping out on the order of 1,200 horsepower (900 kilowatts) to the appropriately reinforced transmission.

Racing on the Upington Runway in South Africa earlier this week, the man could finally strike out one thing from his list of dreams: his Godzilla successfully took him to 351 kilometers (218 mph) and safely back to a halt.
