The latest Nissan GT-R is technically 21 years old already – at least if you count from the 2001 Tokyo Auto Salon reveal. According to Nismo CEO Takao Katagiri, a successor will be coming to us in the near future.
Speaking in an interview with Autocar, the executive said the car would bear the Nismo badge and be available on its domestic market of Japan, as well as in the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom. Ideologically, it will serve as a successor of sorts to the gradually aging GT-R (in the gallery here).
In early 2022, the Godzilla left the EU markets due to its strict emission laws. Rumor has it that its descendant will be a hybrid car, rather than a full-blown EV. The market should see it before the end of the decade, but when exactly remains a mystery. The only thing we have to go by is Katagiri’s promise of a ‘very interesting model’.
