A JDM tuning enthusiast in the United States is looking for buyers for his 2010 Nissan GT-R outfitted with all manner of controversial aftermarket parts. The asking price of $81,500 allegedly only reflects the value of the mods installed, while the car comes as a bonus. Does that sell it to you?
It doesn’t to us, mainly because the engine has more than 102,000 km (63,500 mi) on it and the mods just aren’t that tasteful in our opinion. For one, there is a full $35,000 Liberty Walk body kit including fender flares and all other bells and whistles. There is a carbon-fiber trunk cover, an N Tune rear bumper, a comically oversized racing-style rear wing and a set of custom wheels in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The suspension is air-cushioned, and the lighting all around is LED-based, taken from the 2015 GT-R facelift catalog.
The interior is not shown anywhere, but the seller assures us there are numerous carbon trim parts inside as well. The stock 3.8-liter V6 twin-turbo under the hood was allegedly dialed up from its original 485 PS (478 hp / 357 kW) to 820 PS (809 hp / 603 kW). And if all of the above somehow fails to get the ‘overcompensating for something’ message across, allow the obnoxiously loud Akrapovic exhaust system to put you at ease. A discreet machine, this one is not.
