Nismo, the sports-focused division of Nissan, has unveiled an upgrade plan for the 2023 Nissan GT-R. Called ‘Sport Resetting’, the upgrade basically boils down to the replacement of a control unit used for the engine and the transmission, but the company says owners will immediately notice the difference.
In its most basic form called Type 1, the tuning lifts the top speed to a higher (although unspecified) value. Only the Nismo spec shown in the embedded video here can be upgraded like this. The asking price is ¥270,000, or close to U.S. $2,000.
The Type 2 kit modifies the drivetrain management logic and is compatible with all standard GT-R models. It lets the engine output more torque at lower-to-mid RPM counts, ensuring a livelier ride and more driving enjoyment. The gears switch faster in this mode and the acceleration is better overall. The company avoids mentioning specific numbers, though. The price is ¥310,000, or $2,320.
