The Nissan Juke Rally Tribute pays homage to the Datsun 240Z rally car that won gold in the East African Rally half a century ago.
The crossover SUV has a black hood with a couple of floodlights on it, plenty of ride height and all-terrain tires. The tailgate window makes room for a second spare wheel.
A hybrid powertrain with undisclosed specifications resides under the hood. The third-gen Qashqai – a senior sibling to the Juke – has as many of three hybrid options, so it is likely that the one-off concept car uses one of them. The regular Juke runs on a rather mundane one-liter three-pot turbo rated at 117 PS (115 hp / 86 kW).
The original Datsun 240Z featured in the enclosed video hit the rally track packing a 2.4-liter inline-six engine rated at 210 PS (207 hp / 154 kW). Multiple instances of the model claimed the 1st, the 2nd and the 7th places in the 1971 East African Rally. The car once piloted by Edgar Herrmann was completely restored eight years ago and currently resides in the Nissan Heritage private collection in the city of Zama, Japan.
