The all-electric next generation of the Nissan Juke might be influenced by the company’s recently unveiled Hyper Punk Concept (see the gallery and the video). The report comes from Auto Express citing its own sources; the launch date remains unknown.
According to the publication, the new SUV will have similar-looking angular bodywork with boxy wheel arches, unusual lighting and other bold design features. Of course, it will look much simpler than the concept due to production restraints.
Overall, the next-gen Juke will aim at preserving its avant-garde appearance, which it had since its original debut 13 years ago. The production car can be expected to be much smaller than the concept, though, and sit in Nissan’s lineup below the Ariya EV and the upcoming Leaf CUV.
Platform-wise, it seems likely that the new Juke will be based on the same architecture as the Renault 5 (and the marque’s other EVs), or possibly the new Nissan Micra. Those are all expected to ship with low-end traction batteries sized at 40–52 kWh, but the Juke might get a bigger pack owing to its premium status and larger dimensions.
In its most basic form, the car may get a single front-axle motor, but a dual-motor spec is likely to be released, too.
