Reports: Nissan chooses UK for Juke & Qashqai EV production

A number of British media are reporting that Nissan plans to produce the all-electric Juke and Qashqai in Sunderland, UK.

The Japanese carmaker revealed earlier this year that the successor to the electric Leaf hatchback would be a crossover that would go into production in Sunderland.

According to Sky News and Financial Times, the Leaf successor is far from being the only vehicle scheduled for production at the Sunderland site. Reports are coming in that the battery descendants of the Juke and Qashqai lineups will also be made there. An official confirmation is expected soon.

Nissan has already been producing ICE Juke and Qashqai at that factory, as well as their hybrid counterparts – Qashqai e-Power and Juke Hybrid – since the last year. The corporation plans to invest over £1,000,000,000 into expanding its Sunderland facility in the near future.
