The Nissan Kicks will soon be getting a facelift in Brazil, four years after the initial launch. The company mentions that it will be different from the 2020 Kicks available in Japan in China without specifying how.
The crossover will likely get the new 1.3-liter turbo engine co-developed with Daimler AG. The Indian Kicks uses it as well, but it comes based on the B0 platform, whereas the international version utilizes the architecture known as āVā.
Another theory states that the Brazil-made CUV will get the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo mill of the India-spec Renault Triber and Nissan Magnite (both compact vans are still in development).
A couple years later, the Kicks may receive an e-Power Hybrid version in Brazil. This one is currently sold in Thailand and Japan based on a 1.2-liter non-turbo three-cylinder rated close to 80 hp (60 kW) and EM57 electric motor capable of 129 hp (96 kW). The traction battery can hold as little as 1.57 kilowatt-hours of energy.
The Nissan Kicks currently on sale in South America only ships with one engine, which is a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder rated at 114 hp (85 kW). Transmissions include five-speed manual and CVT, and the drive stays on the front axle no matter what. It is also the single most popular Nissan car in Brazil.
