South Carolina-based tuning company Tommy Pike Customs has brought quite a show stopper to the SEMA-2022: an electric Nissan Leaf mixed with a 35-year-old Nissan Sunny truck. It is a one-off at this point, but the company will build you a copy if you are interested.
The stock manual transmission is linked with the electric motor with the assistance of a purpose-designed adapter. Like the pickup, the project car has a driveshaft carrying its torque to the rear axle.
It is unclear where the Leaf traction battery resides in this build. What we do know is that the entire front suspension originates from the Nissan 240SX S13 produced in 1989–1994.
Other than that, the vehicle retains its classic exterior with minor retouches. For example, there is a spoiler below the front bumper and flares on the wheel arches. The headlights are now LED-based, and the sporty alloy wheels are new, too. The cabin remains to be revealed in detail, but what little can be seen on the photos reveals it’s a right-hand-drive car with a 12-o-clock mark on the steering wheel.
